When you apply for a loan or credit card, it’s customary for the organization to retrieve your credit report from a credit bureau. The credit report contains:
- Identifying information - name, address, Social Security Number;
- Current employment information - position, income, length of employment;
- Credit history - payment records, how much and how often you’ve borrowed;
- Public record information - bankruptcy, civil suits, tax liens.
If you’ve been denied credit because of the information provided by a credit bureau,you are entitled to see a copy of your credit report by the reporting agencies.In the UK you can get a copy by writing to the agency enclosing a cheque for two pounds.In the U.S and Canada it is free.Ask your lender for more detials on which agency they use and contact them.
